Career, Wellness, Achievements, Writing Lab & Accessibility — Celebrations Everywhere & Install as an App

A month of building out the tools around your studies — a full Career tracker, a real Wellness support layer, gamified Achievements, a prompted-and-graded Writing Lab, study-group discussions and a following feed — plus a platform-wide accessibility overhaul and stronger privacy controls.

New Features

  • More Achievements: 25 new badges to earn across Cases, Outlines, Writing Lab, and Cold Call, plus higher milestones for study streaks, flashcard mastery, practice exams, and study games.
  • Celebrations everywhere: unlock a badge anywhere in JurisNote — the flashcards screen, a case brief, the dashboard — and a fun celebration pops up on the spot, not just on the Achievements page. It respects reduced-motion settings.
  • Install JurisNote as an app: add JurisNote to your phone's home screen, or your computer's desktop or Dock, for one-tap access and offline study. Ask the in-app support assistant "how do I install the app?" for step-by-step instructions tailored to your device and browser.
  • Persistent study timer (Wellness): a focus timer that stays with you across the app. Start a focus block and it keeps counting in the corner as you move between flashcards, outlines, and cases, then gently reminds you to take a short break. It's optional — you can hide it any time and turn it back on from the Wellness page.
  • Career Tracker: Track OCI, clerkship, and firm applications through a status pipeline — drag cards between stages (with a keyboard alternative), record and compare offers side by side (salary, bonus, total compensation, commute, and your own interest rating), and restore anything you delete from Trash.
  • Wellness: A private space for quick mood check-ins and a study-break timer, with a gentle nudge when you're studying very late. The support section lists verified crisis and support lines for your country, and you can save trusted contacts to reach out to in a hard moment — your list stays private and JurisNote never contacts anyone for you.
  • Achievements: Earn badges for study streaks, doctrine mastery, and milestones — every badge is now earnable — plus Levels and XP on a colorful progress ring, with a celebration and notification each time you unlock one.
  • Writing Lab (Exam Prep): Practice timed IRAC essays against one of your own hypotheticals or an AI-generated prompt, then get a per-section AI grade against a model answer. AI prompts, model answers, and grades are clearly labeled — the grade is an estimate, not an official score.
  • Study-Group Discussions: Every study group now has a Discussion tab for threaded conversation with your group.
  • Follow & Feed: Follow classmates and creators, and see their newly published decks and outlines under a new "Following" tab in your Library, with a dashboard card for what's new.
  • Property Outline Template: A comprehensive 1L Property outline joins the set — acquisition, estates & future interests, concurrent ownership, landlord-tenant, servitudes, land transactions, and takings.

Improvements

  • Accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA): A broad accessibility pass across the app — accessible names on controls, labeled form fields, correct heading structure, skip-to-content landmarks, stronger color contrast in both themes, and broad keyboard operability including keyboard alternatives for drag-and-drop — plus a live automated accessibility check that blocks new violations on our core pages in continuous integration. Our public Accessibility Conformance Report at /accessibility is a self-assessment backed by that automated gate and component tests; an independent third-party audit is still pending.
  • Privacy — Do Not Sell / GPC: Your opt-out choice follows your account across devices. When advertising measurement is enabled, the same choice is honored on server-side events, and Global Privacy Control browser signals are respected on sale/share paths, including checkout.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed signing out on mobile: tapping Sign Out now reliably ends your session on phones and when JurisNote is installed as an app.

Flashcards 2.0 — Active Recall, Rich Media, AI Generation, and Org Sharing

A complete overhaul of the flashcard experience: new study modes, a unified card editor, video and image support, AI-powered card generation, school-wide sharing, and per-student FSRS scheduling.

New Features

  • Write Mode: Type your answer before seeing the card back. Responses are graded by AI similarity and mapped to the FSRS rating scale — active recall, not just recognition.
  • AI Card Generation: Generate cards from pasted text, case briefs, outlines, lectures, or PDFs. Generation runs in the background; review and accept or reject candidates before they enter your deck. All AI-generated cards are labeled.
  • Video Attachments (Pro): Attach short video clips (≤60 s) to card fronts or backs, virus-scanned on upload.
  • Per-User FSRS Scheduling: Your review schedule on a shared deck is tracked independently of every other student. After 100+ reviews, JurisNote fits your personal FSRS parameters from your own history.
  • Share with Your School: Share a deck with all members of your law school in one click. Rotate public share links instantly — old links expire immediately.
  • Unified Card Editor: A single consistent formatting toolbar (bold, italic, heading, lists, font, highlight, colour) across all card types. Reuse previously uploaded deck images without re-uploading. Drafts auto-save every 30 seconds with one-click recovery on return.
  • Cross-Deck Analytics: Card count, cards due today, 30-day retention rate, and study streak — aggregated across all your decks.
  • Storage Dashboard: Account settings now shows used and available storage with a progress bar and an 80% warning threshold.

Improvements

  • Copyright acknowledgment is required before any media upload proceeds; each acknowledgment is recorded.
  • Conflict-safe editing: simultaneous edits to the same card surface a side-by-side conflict dialog instead of silently overwriting.
  • File type allowlist (JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, MP3, WAV, AAC, OGG, MP4, WebM) enforced server-side; per-card attachment cap of 25 MB.
  • Orphaned media files are automatically purged nightly; leech-suspended cards are excluded from shared-deck due queues.
  • Also in this release — Public deck discovery: public decks now load for everyone and the library is publicly browsable, so you can find and open decks shared by other students and publish your own.
  • Also in this release — Stronger privacy & security: a platform-wide security and privacy review tightened how your data is isolated to your account and how your content is stored and displayed. No action needed on your end.
  • Also in this release — More reliable: extensive reliability and testing work means fewer errors and more graceful recovery when something goes wrong.

Introducing the JurisNote AI Assistant & Organization Access Control

Say hello to your new study companion. Ask it anything — and a handful of reliability improvements round out the release. School administrators now have complete self-service control over membership, licensing, content, and feature availability — all backed by a full audit trail.

New Features

  • AI Assistant (Beta): JurisNote now has a built-in AI assistant. Find it under the "Ask AI Agent" tab. Ask it anything about your study materials, your account, billing, or how to get the most out of the platform. It knows JurisNote inside and out — and it gets smarter over time.
  • More Storage: Storage limits have been increased across all plans.
  • Invite Flow with Magic Links: School admins can invite members by email (individually or via bulk CSV upload). Invitees receive a secure magic-link email; clicking it automatically verifies them into the school with the assigned role.
  • Per-School Feature Flags: Enable or disable six platform features for all school members — Cold Call Simulator, Cram Mode, AI Flashcard Generator, Lecture Upload, Case Comparison, and Spaced Repetition. Disabled features gracefully redirect members.
  • Full Audit Log: Every admin action (invites, role changes, setting updates, content decisions, feature flag toggles) is recorded with actor, timestamp, and a before/after diff. Logs are filterable by date range and action type and exportable to CSV.
  • Settings Overhaul: Three new settings sections — Identity (school logo, banner, and brand colours with live preview), Access (allowed email domains, public registration, guest access, and approval toggles), and Features (feature flag grid).
  • School-Scoped Moderation Queue: School admins see only their school's reported content. Global platform admins retain full unfiltered visibility.
  • Member Offboarding: Admins can remove members with a single confirmation. Removal automatically revokes school-context content shares and decrements the seat count.
  • Licensing Enforcement: Schools on seat-based licenses are blocked from accepting new members when seats are full or the license has expired. Admins receive an email warning when 90% of seats are used.

Improvements

  • A beta label is shown in the AI chat window so you always know when a response should be double-checked.
  • Account security tightened: email verification is now required before linking a Google account to an existing login, password reset links expire after a single use, and two-factor authentication validation is stricter.
  • Invite acceptance is CSRF-safe: the magic-link token itself is the single-use credential, with no separate CSRF token required for the GET flow.
  • All admin actions are rate-limited to prevent abuse (invite: 100/hr; remove member: 20/hr; settings: 10/10s).
  • Audit log entries are tamper-evident and append-only — every admin action is recorded and can't be silently edited or deleted.

Bug Fixes

  • Flashcard PDF import now correctly handles multi-line questions. Previously, a question that wrapped across two lines in a PDF would be split into two broken cards — this is fixed.
  • Trash was not permanently deleting items older than 30 days. It was silently resetting the deletion timer every week instead. Items in trash for over 30 days are now properly removed.

Exam Prep Hub & Next-Gen Study Engine

Prepare smarter with a dedicated Exam Prep Hub, upgraded spaced repetition, richer outlines, and powerful new study tools.

New Features

  • Copyright Acknowledgment Gate: All upload flows (cases, exams, lectures, outlines, flashcard imports, and syllabus imports) now display a copyright & permissions notice and require explicit acknowledgment before uploading.
  • AI Data Usage Disclosure: AI text-input features (Brief Synthesis, AI Flashcard Generator) now clearly explain that your text is sent to OpenAI for processing, is not used to train AI models, and results are stored privately in your account.
  • Recording Consent: Lecture recording now requires explicit consent confirming you have permission to record all speakers, with a legal disclaimer about copyright and wiretapping laws.
  • Exam Prep Hub: A command center for exam prep — track your readiness across multiple study methods, bridge flashcard mastery to exam performance, and practice with timed sessions and a randomized question bank.
  • Next-Gen Spaced Repetition: Upgraded to the FSRS v5 algorithm for smarter review scheduling — study less, remember more.
  • Fill-in-the-Blank Flashcards: Create cards that hide key terms so you can test active recall of rules and elements.
  • Rich Text Outlines: Full rich text editing with starter templates, one-click PDF export, and node-level comments.

  • Session Management: View and revoke active login sessions across all your devices.

  • Search results are now ranked by relevance with source attribution.
  • Flashcards are automatically tagged by legal doctrine.
  • Smoother cancellation flow with clearer plan details.
  • Login errors now appear inline instead of in a corner toast.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed flashcard animation glitch when switching between cards.
  • Dark mode toasts now match the active theme.
  • Case reader scrolls naturally without fixed-height cutoffs.
  • Resolved duplicate entries in topic performance analytics.
