No Affiliation Disclaimer
Version 1 — effective 7/26/2026
INTRODUCTION
JurisNote LLC ("JurisNote," "we," "us," "our") provides the JurisNote website, application, and related services (the "Service"), an independent legal-education study platform. This No Affiliation Disclaimer explains what JurisNote is not affiliated with, why third-party names appear on the Service, and how to raise a trademark or misidentification concern.
This Disclaimer is incorporated by reference into the JurisNote Terms of Service at /terms and applies to every user and visitor. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meaning given to them in the Terms of Service. Related policies: AI Usage & Disclosure Policy at /ai-usage, Public Sharing Rules at /legal/public-sharing-rules, and User-Generated Content Policy at /legal/user-generated-content.
WE ARE INDEPENDENT
JurisNote LLC is an independent, privately held company located in Macon, Georgia. JurisNote is NOT affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, approved by, certified by, licensed by, or otherwise connected to any of the following:
• any law school, university, college, or other educational institution;
• the American Bar Association ("ABA") or any ABA section, division, or committee;
• the National Conference of Bar Examiners ("NCBE"), including in connection with the Uniform Bar Examination, MBE, MEE, MPT, or MPRE;
• any state bar, board of bar examiners, bar admission authority, or character-and-fitness committee;
• any court, judicial body, or government agency;
• any casebook publisher, legal publisher, treatise publisher, or study-aid publisher;
• any commercial bar-preparation company or commercial study-aid company;
• any legal research provider or database vendor.
No statement on the Service should be read as a claim of affiliation, sponsorship, endorsement, accreditation, or approval by any of the above. JurisNote's products and materials are not authorized, reviewed, or approved by any of them.
WHY THIRD-PARTY NAMES APPEAR ON THE SERVICE
3.1 Identification and organization only
The Service lets users organize study material by school, course, professor, subject, jurisdiction, casebook, and case name, and lets users search and filter the public Library using those fields. Where a school, course, professor, casebook, case, court, or jurisdiction is named on the Service, the name is used solely to identify and organize study material. That use is nominative fair use — it tells you what the material is about. It is not, and must not be read as, a claim of association with, or endorsement or sponsorship by, the named person, institution, publisher, or authority.
3.2 User-supplied names
Most of these names are supplied by users, not by JurisNote. When a user tags a deck, brief, or outline with a school, course, professor, casebook, or jurisdiction, that tag reflects the user's own description of their material. It does not mean the named school, course, professor, or publisher created, reviewed, approved, or endorsed the material, has any relationship with JurisNote, or is even aware that the material exists. JurisNote does not verify user-supplied institution, course, or professor names, and does not warrant that they are accurate.
USER CONTENT IS NOT INSTITUTIONAL CONTENT
4.1 The content belongs to the user
Material published to the public Library at /library and displayed on creator profiles at /creator/[id] is created and published by individual users. It is the user's own content, not JurisNote's content and not the content of any school, professor, publisher, or bar authority. JurisNote does not endorse, adopt, verify, or vouch for the accuracy, completeness, currency, or legality of user-published material. See the User-Generated Content Policy at /legal/user-generated-content and the Public Sharing Rules at /legal/public-sharing-rules.
4.2 Users who identify as students or faculty
A user may identify themselves as a student, alumnus, teaching assistant, or professor of a particular institution. Any such self-identification is the user's own statement. Material published by that user is the user's personal content, published in the user's personal capacity. It is not published by, on behalf of, or with the authority of any institution, and it does not become institutional or official course material because of who published it.
4.3 "Professor content" and creator-verification badges
The Service may display designations such as a "professor content" label or a creator-verification badge. These are JurisNote's own internal product designations, applied under JurisNote's own criteria and at JurisNote's discretion. They are NOT institutional endorsements, academic credentials, appointments, accreditations, or certifications, and they are not conferred, reviewed, or approved by any law school, university, bar authority, or publisher. A badge on the Service says something about how JurisNote has categorized an account or an item. It says nothing about whether any institution stands behind the content.
INSTITUTIONAL CUSTOMERS ARE CUSTOMERS, NOT ENDORSERS
Some institutions purchase seat-based licenses to the Service and may enable single sign-on (SAML or OIDC), SCIM provisioning, and institution-level feature and AI controls for their users. Those arrangements are ordinary commercial relationships between JurisNote and the institution.
An institutional license, SSO configuration, or provisioning arrangement is NOT:
• an endorsement of JurisNote, or of any content on the Service, by the institution;
• a representation that the institution has reviewed, verified, or adopted any user-published material;
• a partnership, joint venture, agency relationship, or affiliation beyond the terms of the applicable license agreement.
JurisNote does not use an institution's name, seal, logo, or marks to suggest endorsement, and will not do so without that institution's written permission. If your institution licenses the Service and you believe JurisNote has described the relationship inaccurately, tell us using Section 9.
TRADEMARKS
All product names, brand names, institution names, seals, logos, service marks, and trademarks appearing on the Service are the property of their respective owners, including the marks of law schools and universities, the ABA, the NCBE, state bars and boards of bar examiners, courts, legal and casebook publishers, and commercial bar-preparation and study-aid companies. Use of a third-party mark on the Service is for identification and reference only, consistent with Section 3; JurisNote claims no ownership or rights in those marks and asserts no license, sponsorship, or affiliation by using them.
"JurisNote" and the JurisNote logo are marks of JurisNote LLC; you may not use them without our prior written permission, and you may not use them in a way that suggests JurisNote endorses you, your content, or your organization.
NO LEGAL ADVICE; NO ATTORNEY-CLIENT RELATIONSHIP
JurisNote is not a law firm, is not a legal services provider, and does not provide legal advice, legal opinions, or legal representation. Nothing on the Service — including user-published material, AI-generated output, blog posts, help articles, or communications with our support team — is legal advice or a substitute for advice from a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction.
No attorney-client relationship, and no fiduciary or professional relationship of any kind, is created by your use of the Service, by your communications with JurisNote, or by your reliance on anything found on the Service. Do not send us confidential or privileged information. Content on the Service is educational, may be inaccurate or out of date, and is not tailored to any person's circumstances or jurisdiction. See /ai-usage for the specific limitations of AI-generated output.
NO GUARANTEE OF ACADEMIC OR EXAMINATION OUTCOMES
JurisNote is a study aid. We make no representation, warranty, or guarantee — express or implied — that use of the Service will produce any particular result, including that you will:
• earn any particular grade, class rank, journal or clinic placement, honor, or degree;
• pass any law school examination, the MPRE, the bar examination, or any other licensing examination;
• be admitted to any bar, satisfy any character-and-fitness requirement, or obtain any employment outcome.
JurisNote is not a bar-preparation course and does not purport to satisfy any law school, ABA, or bar admission requirement. Academic and licensure outcomes depend on many factors outside our control, including your own preparation. Your academic conduct obligations are addressed in the Academic Integrity Policy at /legal/academic-integrity. The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE," subject to the warranty disclaimer and limitation of liability in the Terms of Service at /terms.
RAISING A TRADEMARK OR MISIDENTIFICATION CONCERN
If you are a rights holder, an institution, a professor, a publisher, or a bar or examination authority and you believe that:
• a mark of yours is used on the Service in a way that suggests affiliation, sponsorship, or endorsement;
• content on the Service is misattributed to you or to your institution;
• a user has falsely claimed to represent, speak for, or be affiliated with you; or
• your name, seal, or logo appears on the Service in a way you object to,
write to us at info@jurisnote.net with: your name and the entity you represent; your relationship to the mark or the identification at issue; the specific mark, name, or identification concerned; the URL or item identifier of each page or item at issue; a description of the problem and the correction you are requesting; and contact information for follow-up. We review these promptly and may remove or edit the identification, require the user to correct it, unpublish the item, or take other action under the Terms of Service.
You may also use the in-product report control on any published item; that flow accepts reports from people who do not have a JurisNote account (an email address is required, a login is not) and includes categories for copyright, copied professor material, copied textbook or supplement material, and copied bar-preparation material.
Copyright infringement claims are handled under our DMCA Policy at /legal/dmca; notices may be submitted through the public form at /legal/dmca-notice without an account.
CHANGES TO THIS DISCLAIMER
We may update this Disclaimer from time to time. The Effective Date and Last Updated fields above identify the current version, and prior versions are superseded on the Effective Date of a new version. When changes are material, we will notify you by email and/or in-app notice before they take effect, and we may require you to re-accept this Disclaimer or an updated Terms of Service. Continued use of the Service after the Effective Date of a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Disclaimer.
